Colorado Mountain Wildflower Engagement
No smoke and mirrors for this shot. Just a dusty mountain road and a very bold couple. Katie and Bryce are a sweet, loving, and I must say, venturesome couple. This Colorado mountain wildflower engagement started as we were driving to the falls. I noticed in my rear view mirror the incredible effect of light filtering through the dust left in our wake. How to capture that effect played in the background of my mind during the shoot at the falls.
Dust And More Dust
On our way back, seeing the dust again, I asked them if they were game to try. The problem was that there wasn’t’ any traffic to create the dust and it didn’t linger for long. Bryce had the answer. He drove his car up and down the road stopping to jump out (leaving the car running) to join Katie. As the dust settled he hopped back in the car to do it all over again and again. It seems Bryce has the nickname “Nice Bryce”. So when he sped up and down the dirt road to create atmosphere for the perfect shot Katie proclaimed “Nice, Bryce!” and explained the story of the nickname.
Further down the road we came to a field bursting with white wild flowers splashed with the occasional red of Indian paintbrush. As if standing in a cloud of dust wasn’t enough, this daring couple was willing to climb through a barbed wire fence. When a couple tells me they have no issue with climbing over barbed wire to get the ideal shot, I know they are the perfect client for me!
Nearly everything about Colorado is adventuresome and engagement photos should be the same in my book – love and adventure belong together. Thanks Katie and Bryce for an audacious day in our beautiful state.
