Adventurous Mountain Engagement Session

The great thing about being a photographer in the Denver area is that within an hour or less you can head west and be surrounded by the majestic Rocky Mountains. It’s always an adventure shooting engagements sessions in the mountains – especially with such a fun couple like Kelcie and Mark and their adorable husky.

No matter where we are in the mountains, the scenery always excites my creative passion.

There’s a rock out cropping that is surrounded by massive imposing pines forming a perfect frame.  Or the way the sun filters through the trees creating a sublime natural lighting effect that generates the ambiance for the shot. Combine this with a couple that is adventurous enough to climb out on that rock outcropping and comfortable enough to express their feelings in that light and you have pure magic!

On this special adventurous mountain engagement session, we had the added bonus of a unique farm setting in the mountains near Golden – complete with log cabin, red barn and chickens! How great is that? It reminded me of the carefree summer days I spent playing and being not just a little bit spoiled at my grandparent’s farm.

I just love it when couples bring their dogs along for the engagements sessions. Do you ever wonder what dogs are thinking? My favorite part of this session was watching the husky as he watched the chickens. It was as if somewhere deep in his DNA he knew that these creatures had held some importance but for the life of him he didn’t understand. He certainly did find them interesting enough creatures and was probably imagining the cacophony and havoc that would ensue if he jumped in with them.

What fun this was – the mountains, adventure and nostalgia – a day that speaks to my heart! Thank you Kelcie and Mark for letting me share this with you.
